Dr Carla Gillespie

Dr Carla Gillespie is an Upper Gastrointestinal and Bariatric Surgeon based in the Northern Beaches in Sydney.

Dr Gillespie completed her medical degree at the University of Newcastle and undertook General Surgery training with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. After this, she gained further experience at Royal North Shore Hospital before selected for the fellowship program with the Australia & New Zealand Gastric & Oesophageal Surgery Association (AANZGOSA). As part of this program, she undertook two additional years of specialist training at St Vincent’s Hospital in Melbourne and Concord Hospital in Sydney. During this time, she also completed her Masters of Surgery through the University of Sydney.

Dr Gillespie’s clinical expertise includes the management of stomach and oesophageal cancer, reflux disease, and hiatus hernia repair. She also has extensive experience in bariatric surgery, including sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass, and complex revisional procedures.

Dr Gillespie is the SET registrar training supervisor and Macquarie University medical student supervisor for Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery at Northern Beaches hospital.
